Selected Projects - First Year

Wood Pavilion

The Wood Pavilion gets its design from a concept of skiing within the mountains as seen by the roof design mainly. This was achieved through all hand-cut elements and was painted white to fully show shadows within the structure. The intended use is one of an outdoor amphitheater which is why it is placed on a sloping hill to provide the best seating for guests. Overall this structure uses a variety of slots to provide shade and diffused light to the public using this pavilion.

Mass and Void Project

The project had two parts one seen as the white cubes and the other made of dowels and wood. The goal was to play with mass, void, subtractive, and additive forms.  This project was inspired by a hand that can be seen differently depending on what side one is looking at.

Mueso del palo de Musica

Is this really a museum design for a stick? Yes, it is called Museso Del Palo Musica which means Museum of the Musical Stick. Which comes from the inspiration of 50s/60s music believe it or not. The main directive of this project was a continual delay so that is why the stick is located in the far building and is surrounded by the vented structure. But overall the planes of this building are inspired by the Barcelona Pavilion by Mies Van Der Rohe and other designs from this era. This structure is designed in a way that gives a glimpse of the stick from entering the path outside the brick wall and the observer must go through the whole first structure pass the reflection pond go to the back of the Stick building then observe the stick up close. This interesting museum provides opportunities for various experiences for each observer. This is the final project of Year One and the last fully hand-cut model made.
